Tinubu Congratulates Adeleke, Urges Him To Unite Osun People


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday described the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the just-concluded Osun election as a "fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our country under the All Progressives Congress administration".

 "I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him", the President said. 

He went on to wish Governor Adeleke great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. The President also said "now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election". 

President Tinubu also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner. 

Adeleke, the candidate of the Accord Party, was declared the winner by INEC on Sunday morning following an overnight collation of results from all the 30 local government areas in the state. 

According to the final results announced by INEC, Accord Party had 511,067 votes,  All Progressives Congress (APC) had 444,815  votes while African Democratic Congress (ADC) had 17,180 votes. 

Adeleke led his closest opponent, Bola Oyebamiji by a margin of 66,252 votes.
