Popular Nigerian gospel artiste, Bolaji Olarewaju, fondly known as Big Bolaji, has died. His demise was confirmed in an official statement issued by his family on Saturday. Big Bolaji reportedly died at the age of 50 after a brief illness on Holy Saturday.
Though Big Bolaji was a certified Estate Surveyor, he was a full time Music Minister. He was converted and raised at the headquarters of The Sword Of The Spirit Ministries under the strict tutelage of Bishop Francis Wale Oke.
Olarewaju who grew up in Ibadan Oyo State, hailed from Gbongan, Osun State. He attended Subuola Nursery and Primary School. Loyola College for one term and continued to complete his secondary school education in London at Archbishop Tensions High School Oval, London. He rounded off his higher education in Nigeria and graduated as an Estate Surveyor from the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
He was until his death an ordained minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God and has been in the ministry for about two decades
He had a blossoming musical career and he ministered on all the platforms made available to him be it a party, church, crusade or a Disco hall.
He anchored a radio programme, "Turn It Up” a popular Sunday Morning Radio Show in Ibadan. He also held praise concerts that went by the same name.
Big Bolaji released a single titled “Real to Me” . He had no album but he focused solely on performing already written praise and worship songs during events and added his own little spice to them.
