DEAR DEIDRE: FOR
no reason my partner flies off the handle and lashes out. I’ve had a broken
nose and endless bruises.
She is horrible to our boys, who are seven and nine, and
often screams at them. She cut the older one’s ear when she threw a tin-opener.
I’m 34 and she’s 31. I do everything for our boys – get them
up and make their lunches before I go to work – while she lies in bed.
I know she needs to see a doctor as she is supposed to be on
medication but she says she doesn’t need it. I want to leave her and take the
boys with me but I don’t know how to go about it.
She says if we split up I’ll only see the boys alternate
weekends, which would destroy me – and them.
DEIDRE SAYS: See
your GP yourself, explain that your partner isn’t taking her medication and is
abusing you and the children.
You have the same rights around your children as their
mother and they need protecting.
Talk it over with the NSPCC helpline and see nspcc.org.uk.
The Men’s Advice Line supports male victims of domestic
abuse.
