"Portable Lied, We Actually Disallowed Him From Performing in Ibadan", Taye Currency's Publicist Reveals
The dust generated by the absence of Habib Okikiola, better known as Portable at the New Year Concert put together by the famed Fuji act, Taye Currency does not seem to be ready to go down anytime soon.
Taye Currency's camp has however dispelled Portable s claims that he was not in Ibadan for the concert. Reacting to the claim that he didn't leave Lagos, the Fuji musician's Publicist, Prince Tope Eluyefa, in a conversation with The Anchor Online said "it is quite unfortunate that things happened the way they did. But it is absurd that Portable is claiming that he didn't leave Lagos. He was in Ibadan and was even lodged in a hotel".
Speaking further, Eluyefa said "before the concert, there had been a security meeting at the instance of the Police authorities in the state and we had confirmed our willingness to go ahead and have Portable on stage. As a matter of fact, adequate preparations had been made in terms of security.
On the D-Day however, we got calls from the Department of State Services that Portable should not be brought out. And knowing Portable for what he is capable of, especially with the already tense situation, we heeded that warning".
When asked whether the payment of ₦ 1 million instead of the ₦5 million he requested was what caused the hitch, Eliyefa said while he was unsure of how much he was paid, it was certain that Portable got paid for the event.
Prince Eluyefa also averred that Portable lied about being hated in Ibadan. "He is simply lying. Ibadan people don't hate him, after all people saw him when he was going to the hotel. Even when he was told he would not be performing at the event, he tried to force his way out. We just needed to stand our ground because if anything untoward had happened to him, we would be held responsible". Continuing, Currency's image maker said "it is funny he said there were plans to set him up. We sought his consent and he agreed to come to Ibadan; so where is the set up in that?"
Meanwhile, Portable has since released a diss track on the issue lyrically positing that he avoided Ibadan so that his white would not be stained.
