The Anchor Online’s findings have revealed that the management
of the International School, Ibadan, has relieved Mrs. J.Z Abu of her duties as
a teacher for ‘gross misconduct’. Mrs. Abu, who taught Agricultural Science in the
school, got into the management’s bad book over an atrocious behaviour. She reportedly compelled a JS 2 student to drink urine during her class in June.
The student had reportedly asked the teacher for permission
to go and ease himself thrice but the teacher did not allow him to. Apparently
pressed beyond what he could bear, the boy urinated in a plastic bottle in the
class. On finding out, she reportedly compelled the student to drink the urine and dispose
of the container.
Checks revealed that when Mrs. Abu was confronted by the
Principal, Mrs. Phebean Olowe, the latter tearfully admitted the incident. A
source disclosed to The Anchor Online that Mrs. Abu did not believe the student truly
wanted to pee, hence her decision to prevent him from leaving the class. “The
boy is known to be very crafty so when he said he was pressed, the teacher must
have thought it was one of his usual gimmicks”, the source said. Her fate was eventually decided by a disciplinary committee.
The Anchor Online’s message, sent to the Principal was yet to be
replied as of the time of filing this report.
