32-Year-Old Ogundoyin Emerges Oyo Assembly Speaker

32-year-old Honourable Adebowale Edward Ogundoyin, was on Monday sworn in as the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly. Ogundoyin, an alumnus of Babcock University, was first elected to represent Ibarapa East State Constituency in June 2018 shortly after the demise of Honourable Segun Adeyemo who was until his death the Speaker of the House.

Ogundoyin, a son of Eruwa's prominent philanthropist, Late Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin was elected unopposed to lead the ninth assembly with the unanimous voice votes of the 32 members of the House. The new Speaker is the only returning lawmaker from the People's Democratic Party.
Honourable Abiodun Fadeyi, former Special Adviser on Media to Senator Mulikat Akande Adeola was elected as Deputy Speaker while a former Speaker of the House, Honourable Asimiyu Niran Alarape emerged as the Minority Leader.
Alarape was the Speaker in the days of Governor Lam Adesina. He is the most experienced lawmaker from the All Progressives Congress in the ninth assembly.
