Oyo Govt Proscribes NURTW, Takes Over Garages

The Oyo State Government, on Friday, announced the sack of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, adding that all parks and garages have been taken over by the state government.
The announcement was made via a statement read by the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Government, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka. 
“After today's deliberation, with security and stakeholders meeting involving security chiefs and the governor, we have resolved to procribe the NURTW in this state until further notice.”
The statement reads further that ‘all activities of the union remain illegal henceforth, we urge the people of the state to go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation as combined security task force in every community of the state have been charged to control and maintained peace and order.
“Parks and garages in the state have been taken over by the Oyo State Government with immediate effect.”
Residents of Oyo State have been apprehensive as messages bordering on violence were circulated on social media that people should be wary of their movements around major garages in the state.
