Dapo Lam-Adesina Hosts Schools' Debate Competition, Rewards Winners

As part of the activities marking this year’s Children’s Day celebration, Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina, the Member representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has successfully hosted the third edition of the Omo Oloore Quiz and Debate Competition in his constituency.

This year’s edition of the competition witnessed the presentation of e-Pads, trophies, sets of stationery, mathematical sets and other writing materials to all the participating students in all categories of the competition to enhance their educational performance.
The annual intellectual event is an initiative exclusively designed by Hon. Adedapo Lam Adesina under Omo Oloore Educational Support Scheme for schools within Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency that covered schools both in the public and private including secondary and primary.
The keenly contested final, which was held at Wesley College of Science, Elekuro, was witnessed by many important personalities, ranging from the Local Inspectors of Education, representatives of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Association of Primary School Headteachers (AOPSHON) and representatives of Community Development Council (CDC) from both Ibadan North East and South East Local Governments.
Also in attendance were leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC), members of the party as well as well wishers across the constituency.
While speaking to journalists shortly after the announcement and presentation of gifts to winners in all categories, Hon. Lam Adesina emphasized that the third edition of the quiz and debate has attested his commitment to raising the bar of education in his constituency.
'Omo Oloore', as the lawmaker is fondly called, disclosed that the annual event is an avenue for him to contribute his quota to the development of education not only in his constituency but also in the state as a whole.
He stated that since he was inaugurated as a member of the House of Representatives in 2015, he has been contributing to the development of education. He cited the distribution of writing materials to about 5000 public school students, distribution of bursary allowance to tertiary students and presentation of scholarship to some students within the constituency area.  
Hon. Lam Adesina stated further that another testimony to the promise kept was the recently commissioned block of two classrooms with two staff offices at IMG Anirin, Eleta, Ibadan.
While promising not to rest on his oars in ensuring that standard of education is improved in his constituency, Adesina commended the committee in charge of the success of this year’s competition, all teachers and students of the participating schools for their effort and contributions during the preliminary to the final stage.
Yejide Girls Grammar School, Molete emerged winner of the debate competition in the public secondary school category, while Solam Model College came first in the private school category. 
In the debate for public primary schools, Ayodele Samuel Memorial Primary School, Osungbade, Molete came first, while in the private primary schools category, Champion Nursery and Primary school emerged winner.
In the quiz competition for private secondary schools, Emerald Laurel Comprehensive College emerged winner, while Ebire Crèche School came first in the primary category. Eleta High School came first in the public secondary school, while Ayodele Samuel emerged winner in the public primary section.
This year’s edition of Omo Oloore Quiz and Debate competition witnessed a large turn out with about 131 entries received from schools across the constituency and 73 schools participated in the rigorous and transparent preliminary stages held at Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu, Ibadan.
