Two in police net for killing neighbour, stealing bike in Imosan

The Ogun State Police Command, on Wednesday announced the arrest of two men for allegedly killing their neighbour and stealing his Bajaj motorcycle. The Command's spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police disclosed that "the two suspects; Patrick Udom, 35, from Akwa Ibom State and James Roland, 25,from Delta State were arrested following a complaint by the elder brother of the victim, one Moses Utuede who reported at Obanlende Divisional headquarters that his younger brother, Happy Patrick left home around 7:00 am on 15th May 2018 and was yet to return with his motorcycle".


Oyeyemi further stated that "on the strength of the report, the DPO, SP Jaiye Richard detailed detectives to embark on full scale investigation in order to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the victim. Investigation later revealed that the victim was last seen with Patrick Udom and he was promptly arrested. After a thorough investigation, the said Patrick Udom confessed to have killed the victim, ably assisted by Roland James. He stated further that the victim who lived in the same community of Imodi-Imosan with them was killed because they wanted to steal his motorcycle which they actually did after killing their victim".

The body of the deceased which was concealed in a sack and thrown in a nearby bush has been recovered by the police. The two cutlasses used to kill the deceased, one hammer and a digger were also recovered.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliysasu has ordered the transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence for discrete investigation and prosecution of the suspects.
