Police Kill Robber on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Ogun State Police Command, on Friday announced that a suspected armed  robber fell to the firepower of it's men.  
The command's spokesman, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi stated that been of the command, on Wednesday shot dead an armed robbery suspect at Fidiwo area of Lagos/Ibadan expressway.


"Following a distress call received by the Police at Isara Divisional headquarters that hoodlums operating on motorcycles have blocked the expressway and we're dispossessing commuters of their belongings, the DPO Isara Division, CSP Yussuf Taiwo led his men to the scene", Oyeyemi disclosed. 
He stated further that "on sighting the policemen; they opened fire on them while the policemen retaliated.
At the end of the gun duel, one of the robbers was shot dead while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds".

The police spokesman confirmed that a cut to size locally made pistol and the two Bajaj motorcycles they used for the operation were recovered.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu has commended the quick response to distress by men of the Isara Division. He also directed that the escaped members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice. 
The CP has vowed to rid the expressway of crime and criminality.
