The well-attended event took place at the Rhema Chapel
International Churches, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan. Pastors from many of the Rhema Chapel installations in Ibadan, alumni of the institute as well as many well wishers graced the event.
In her address, the Sub Dean of the school, Prof. Eseza
Erwat described WOVBTI as “an available resource to be leveraged on by
believers”. Speaking further, she said “when you attend, you will leave with deeper
knowledge of the word and practical skills to maximize your impact in God’s
work”. Quoting from John 14:12, she disclosed that “God has great expectations
of us” and thus advised Christians to “arise and occupy”.
Ibironke Olawanle, who spoke on behalf of students in the
Certificate Class described her time in the institute as “a life changing
experience” and “a junction where you surrender all to Christ”. Speaking on
behalf of the Diploma Class, Wole Adejumo said “graduating from the institute
is not an end in itself but a means to an end”. He went on to state that he and
his colleagues are determined to present themselves as “good ambassadors of the
Word of Victory Bible Training Institute and also as good ambassadors and
battle ready soldiers of Christ”.
The Principal, Pastor Tunde Mabinuori delivered a graduation
address titled “What About Your Call”. From his text taken from Luke 5: 1-11;
Pastor Mabinuori affirmed that everyone has a call of God to do something on
earth. He however stressed that most times, people do not start their lives on
the call and purpose of God for their lives. He therefore urged Christians to
see whatever vocation they start with as something given to them to prove their
commitment, dedication and faithfulness ahead of the assignment God wants to
give them. “That vocation is not your final destination”, Pastor Mabinuori
submitted.
He also pointed out that no one is too old or too young to receive
or respond to God’s call.
While urging Christians not to ignore God’s call, Pastor
Mabinuori noted that “every call of God is a response to a cry somewhere”. He
gave the example of Moses, who God called when God heard the cry of the
Israelites. He also explained that to begin to fulfill the call of God, one has
to seek counsel, attend all services in his or her church, read the Bible
voraciously and be given to fasting and prayer. He also emphasized that getting
trained is necessary if one wants to fulfill the call of God. “Moses trained
under Jethro, Joshua trained under Moses, Elisha trained under Elijah and the
apostles were trained by Jesus”, he pointed out”.
The high point of the event was the presentation of certificates
and prizes; Shodamola Ebenezer emerged the best student in the Certificate
Class while Adejumoke Bammeke was the overall best student in the Diploma
Class.
