Elton John Loses Mum

ELTON John has announced his mum's death in a heartbreaking Twitter post saying he is "in shock".

The death comes just months after mother and son buried an nine-year feud with the superstar saying he will miss her "so much".
The 70-year-old tweeted: "So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning.

"I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock.

"Travel safe Mum. Thank you for everything. I will miss you so much. Love, Elton."

In May the Rocket Man singer had shared a throwback pic of himself and mum Shelia Farebrother with the message: Dear Mum, Happy Mother's Day! So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton xo #MothersDay"

The iconic performer fell out with his 92-year-old mother in 2008 after a disagreement over her maintaining friendships with his former staff members.

Sir Elton then failed to show up to his stepdad's funeral in 2010 and Sheila furthered the feud by hiring an Elton John tribute act for her 90th birthday party.

The milestone birthday is said to have seen the Tiny Dancer singer get in touch with his mum for the first time in seven years, sending her white orchids.

Their full reconciliation is believed to have come shortly after Elton spent time in intensive care with a bacterial infection in April after falling "violently ill" on a flight to the UK from Chile.

It is thought the pair had not seen each other since 2008 following the argument.

In an interview in March 2015 Mrs Farebrother said that her son "hated" her.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she explained the rift started over a "petty" argument when he asked her to cut ties with two of her oldest friends, who had also been part of his early success, Bob Halley and John Reid.

She said: "Then to my utter amazement, he told me he hated me. And he banged the phone down. Imagine. To me, his mother."
