BUSTED: Police Nab Foreigners Vandalizing Pipelines in Lagos!

Police
operatives attached to the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos arrested some suspected vandals who damaged the NNPC pipeline at Owode Apa in Badagry area of Lagos State around 3 am on Wednesday with 113 jerry cans (25/50 litres) filled with Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).

The Zonal Command's spokesman, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest disclosed that "police operatives got a hint of the activities of the hoodlums, who are mostly from the neighbouring Benin Republic, that the portion of the affected pipeline has been turned to a petrol "Depot" where the vandals siphon and ferry large quantity of petroleum products out of the country".


Adejobi went on to state that "the arrested vandals,who have been giving useful information to assist the police in their investigation,include: Omosebi Olorunwa, Daniel Akinwumi, Agosu Ogungbe, Sosu Elijah, Rafiu Balogun, Whesu Julien and Adams Samson.
Other
items recovered from them include some unregistered and registered operations vehicles, some motorcycles, jerry can and siphoning instruments".

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Abdulmajid Ali commended the police operatives for their dogged fight against the vandals at that odd hour and the subsequent arrest of 7 suspects. He further directed that other fleeing members of the syndicate be arrested and charged to court without delay.
The police boss also reiterated the readiness of the present leadership of the Nigeria Police Force in fighting any criminal act that is capable of sabotaging the on-going economic reform of the Federal Government.
AIG Ali also assured the general public of adequate protection of lives and property and promoting  the principles of modern and democratic policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris.
