John Mikel Obi is Super Eagles' New Captain!

Chelsea's John Obi Mikel has been named the new captain of Nigeria's national soccer team, the Super Eagles. he announcement was made a a pre-match press briefing by Ahmed Musa, who was until Thursday the team's captain. "I want to announce now that from today, John Obi Mikel is our new captain", Musa announced.

Mikel, who wan the silver ball at the World Youth Championship in 2005 will thus have his baptism of fire as the team's skipper on Friday when the Eagles face the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna in an AFCON qualifier. It will also be Coach Samson Siasia's first game since his return as the Eagles' handler.
Ahmed Musa took over as captain when former goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama was stripped off the captain's band by former coach Sunday Oliseh.
