PDP Commends Governor Aregbesola!

For the first time in many years, the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has commended Governor Aregbesola. The party commended the governor for "owning up that he inflated the Ido Osun Airport contract from N4.5billion to N15.5billion" saying "it is a sign of a new era in Osun"
The party however disagreed with the governor over the justification for the increment as it insisted that "it amounts to fraud to unilaterally re-award a contract without due procedures and in flagrant disregard of the Procurement Act".

In a statement sent made available to The Anchor Online by PDP's  Director of Media & Strategy Prince Diran Odeyemi on Wednesday, the party described it as "a misplacement of priority for a governor to be building a phony Airport, cruise around the country in a state funded helicopter but embark on  sacking Doctors and Lecturers for lack of funds.

"We wonder where the Governor got the N470million he paid to the Airport contractor on the 8th of January 2016 when workers in the state are being owed 5 months salary while some categories have been placed on half salary since May 2015"

"It is sad that while the governor had sacked over 1,700 workers for lack of funds, he has been living an ostentatious life apart from funding elections and enriching his Lagos friends by awarding contacts that are of no benefit to the people of Osun State.
The Party  repeated its call on President Muhammadu Buhari, the EFCC and other anti graft agencies to send a secret team to the site of the so called Moshood Abiola International Airport,  Ido Osun, to confirm what the government and the Airforce company had done with the N2.7billion taken from the purse of the state on the 14th of December,2012 and another N470million paid on the 8th January this year.
It also challenged the Civil Liberty Organisations, Nigeria media and individuals to probe the activities linking the Airforce company with  Gov Aregbesola who unilaterally approved the multi billion naira contract review more so that he has been running the affairs of the state as "Sole Administrator" without having a state executive council and in clear contravention of the Public Procurement Act.
