Ajimobi Lauds Lead City Varsity’s Progression

. Charges management to aim for the best
Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has expressed his delight at the giant strides recorded by Lead City University within a decade. The Governor also tasked the university's management not to relent in its effort in making the institution one of the best in Africa and the world.
Governor Ajimobi made the remark during the 8th convocation ceremony and 10th anniversary of the institution held on Thursday, 12th December, 2015.
Governor Ajimobi, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Prof. A. O. Makanjuola stated that despite the fact that the institution has recorded a lot of achievements that reflect on its journey so far, it needs to set fresh tasks aimed at making the institution the best in Africa, and if
possible the world at large.

He charged the university not just to involve itself in producing graduates that will not be of economic importance to the society, rather, they should be sets of graduands that will contribute to the reduction of
brain drain that has been affecting universities over the years.
His words, “it is my hope that the university will encourage this set of graduands to aspire and move ahead  in their academic pursuit as a way of reducing the brain drain that has been affecting most of our universities.”
Governor Ajimobi commended Lead City management for not relenting in striving to pursue excellence in the areas of need driven research, teaching and community outreach that will make it relevant to its immediate environment.
He also admonished academic staff of the varsity as well as the National University Commission (NUC) to make use of all available opportunities for research and development provided by the state, federal and other global donor agencies and foundations.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi, in his advice to the graduands urged them to make use of the knowledge they acquired from the university to become useful citizens of the country, adding that they should be jobs creators
instead of jobs seekers. He charged them to be good ambassadors of the institution by contributing positively to its good name, brand and development.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olufemi Onabajo stated that the university has not been found wanting in the areas of academic progression, entrepreneurship, research and development, inaugural lecture, service to the community as well as physical development which have endeared the university to the people of the state and the country at large.
While reeling out the statistics of graduands, he disclosed that out of four hundred and fifty-three (453) graduands, 19 of them emerged in the First Class category, 110 in 2nd Class Upper, while 294 in Second
Class Lower division.
Professor Onabajo congratulated graduands and their family members as well as faculty members for making the programme a reality. He charged the graduands to exhibit to the world what the university has
instilled in them no matter how intimidating it appears.
He also commended the efforts of this year’s anniversary/convocation committee, members of the management and everyone that took one part or the other for job well done in making the event a memorable one.
