Tribunal upholds Ajimobi's election

The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday upheld the election of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the governor of the state.
The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the election, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, saying it lacked merit.

Ladoja had approached the tribunal on the premise that the election that produced Governor Ajimobi was fraught with irregularities. The Accord Party''s candidate had alleged that there was rigging in some local government areas, especially in Oke Ogun area.
