Nigeria moves up to 52nd position in FIFA ranking

Nigeria's Super Eagles moved up by one space to occupy the 52nd position on the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday. Some notable changes occurred in the October edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. At the top, Germany came up by one slot to reclaim second position and trail leaders Argentina which retains the number one position.
Belgium went down by one space to complete the top three. Other climbers in the top ten include Portugal (4th up by 2 spaces) and Spain (6th, up by 5 spaces), while Colombia (5th, down by 1 space) and Brazil (7th, down  by 2 spaces) have all lost ground. Spain’s re-entry after three months is down to two wins in qualifiers for UEFA EURO 2016, while Wales (8th, up by 1 space) and Austria (11th, up by 2 spaces) have achieved their highest-ever rankings, with the latter having already qualified for next year’s tournament.
Algeria at the 19th position is the only African country in the top 20. Cote d'' Ivoire retained its 21st position and is rated Africa's second best, followed by Ghana, which moved up 2 spaces at 25th, 4th on the continent's table is Tunisia, stranding at36th while Senegal is ranked 38th. Other countries ranked ahead of Nigeria are Cape Verde, Cameroon, Congo and Egypt.
