Investigate Osun Govt's Killer Squad, PDP Tells CP

The Osun State chapter of the People's Democratic Party, PDP has alleged that the state government maintains a "killer squad".
The allegation came up as the party welcomed the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kola Shodipo, and asked him to "look seriously into the menace of Osun State government killer squad named "state boys".
The party, in a statement issued by Prince Diran Odeyemi, its Director of Media and Strategy, lamented that "Governor Rauf Aregbesola purposely created, financed and armed state boys to terrorize Organisations and individuals opposed to his style of governance in the state"
Prince Odeyemi thus urged the new commissioner to ensure the safety of lives and properties of Osun people and caution Governor Aregbesola against terrorizing the people of Osun state with thugs.
"We appeal to the new Police boss to be professional and live up to his high ratings, the purpose of which the Inspector General of Police deemed it fit to post him to Osun state"
The PDP while making reference to the statement credited to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, when he received the police boss last week that he had invested in the police more than all other states in the last 5 years, Odeyemi described such statement as "bogus, absolute lie and self glorification".
"The new CP as a test should ask Ogbeni Aregbesola to hand over to him the helicopter he claimed to have bought for the Police for surveillance purposes in the state and also look into the numbers of Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) said to have been supplied to the police by the governor and their conditions in less than 3 years of purchase".
"We also want to inform the new CP that part of Governor Aregbesola's investment on the police is the N5,000 monthly allowance to all lower ranks the purpose of which we believe is to get police support against opposition parties in the state"

"We are making all these known to the new CP for him to be wary of the antics of the Governor and the All Progressives Congress in the course of discharging his duties.
While wishing Mr Shodipo a successful tenure and praying for divine guidance for him, the opposition party advised Mr. Shodipo to remain very professional in handling complaints and issues in the state.
