"Federal Character Killed Our National Corporations"- Ben Bruce

While President Muhammadu Buhari's appointments continue to generate debates across Nigeria, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has opined that putting federal character ahead of merit when making appointments will not do the country any good.
While pointing this out in the #commonsense series on Twitter, Senator Murray-Bruce tweeted "What killed Nigeria Airways and almost every other national corporation that should have been a national asset? We brought in ethnicity/religion into public service, recruiting on basis of federal character rather than on basis of merit#commonsense".

He also tweed "As a result of Federal Character, Nigeria Airways went from 30 aircraft in 1982 to bankruptcy and a debt of over $60 million by year 2000!. Federal Character cannot make an electrical power station work. It can't make a refinery work. Only merit can do these ".
There have been complaints in some areas that appointments made so far by President Buhari favour the Northern part of the country over and above other areas.
