The cover of Michael Olayinka of 24, Iyana Agbala area in
Ibadan blew around 2 pm on August 10, 2015 at Iwo Road shopping Complex Ibadan.
Before then, Olayinka had the image of a respectable police officer who carried
himself with the grace of a born law enforcer. He was dreaded by some, feared
by some more. That fateful day
however, he was demystified as he was while
harassing and trying to effect arrest of innocent citizens at Iwo Road Shopping
Complex.
Investigation carried out by the State CIID Ibadan revealed
that 24-year-old Olayinka Micheal Olatunji was a fake Assistant Superintendent
of Police (ASP) who claimed to be attached to Agodi Area Command, Ibadan.
Police authorities disclosed that the suspect paraded
himself as a Police officer to innocent citizens at the scene in a bid to
extort money from the traders.
Exhibits recovered from him include a fake police warrant card and a portrait of the suspect in full police uniform with the rank of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP 1).
