Many Feared Killed in Yola Market Bombing

Scores of people are believed to have lost their lives after an explosive device went off at the Gate 1 of the Jimeta Central Modern Market in Yola, Adamawa State on Thursday evening.
The bomb was believed to have been set off by a suicide bomber who targeted a peak period at the evening market. A local barbecue seller, (called mai suya in the local parlance) and his two sons reportedly died as the bomb exploded when they were setting up for the evening's business.


There have been bomb attacks almost on a daily basis in North East Nigeria since President Muhammadu Buhari announced the relocation of the military high command to Maiduguri to stem terror attacks.In defiance to the move of the Federal Government, the Boko Haram terrorist organization stepped up its wave of attacks.
The Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar confirmed the incident though he said the command is yet to ascertain the casualty figure as of the time of filing this report.
