Army, Police Joint Patrol Team Arrests Graduates for Armed Robbery in Ogun!

The Ogun State Police Command on Saturday announced that joint operation teams of the Command and OP MESA attached to 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala, Abeokuta have intercepted and arrested a gang of young graduates that robbed and snatched a Toyota Highlander Jeep at Festac Town, Lagos on February 4th at Ibafo area of Ogun State about 8.30pm, same day.

In a statement signed by the Police PRO of the Ogun State Command, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and made available to The Anchor Online, it was disclosed that "the suspected armed robbers,who were on top speed on the Lagos-Ibadan express way after the operation, in a bid to escape,were intercepted by the joint operation teams who were on their routine patrol along the same expressway. The teams forced the moving vehicle to stop when they noticed the suspicious attitudes of the occupants who were eventually found to be armed robbers".


Adejobi also stated that "the suspected armed robbers had kidnapped the owner of the snatched car and moved with the car before they dropped him along the road having used him to operate the security device fixed on the said car. The vehicle was demobilized and stopped at a point along the expressway but the suspects hired the services of a rewire(technician) to start the engine again,and continued their movement before the arrest".

The names of the arrested suspects were given as Amuche Chukwuemeka,22, a graduate of the Federal Polytechnic,Nekede Owerri,in Imo State, who was mentioned as the ring leader, Blessing Edottie,26,from Bayelsa State,and Santos Peter,25,from Delta State. They all claimed to be graduates of various schools.
Adejobi also told The Anchor Online that "they have confessed to the crime and are helping the police in their investigation".

The acting Commissioner of Police Ogun State, DCP Haliru Gwandu has ordered that the case be transferred to the Lagos State Police Command where the robbery incident took place for proper investigation. He then commended the joint operation teams of the Police and Nigerian Army for the good job and charged other operational outfits in the state to add more pep in achieving adequate security of lives and property in Ogun State.
