Ogun CP, PPRO Bag International Awards

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye and the Police Public Relations Officer Ogun State, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi have again bagged another set of awards in Dubai in recognition of their efforts towards achieving public safety and security of lives and property in Ogun state.

 The award ceremony which was organized by the Security Watch Africa at its 11th Security Watch Africa Lectures and Awards, was held at Al Ghurair Hotel and Event Centre Dubai, United Arab Emirates between 25th and 27th November, 2014. The event was witnessed by security experts and dignitaries from African Continent including General Joseph Nunoo-Mensa(rtd), two time Chief of Defence Staff, Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Ambassador James Gbeho, the former ECOWAS President from Ghana,the Inspector General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria, IGP Suleiman Abba, represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police,In charge of Zone 2 Command Lagos, AIG Umar Manko, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, who was represented by a veteran broadcaster and Commissioner for Information Sokoto State Hon Danladi Bakko and many top security experts.

The Ogun State Police Command was honoured  as the "Most Outstanding Cime Busting Police Command in West Africa" while the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi was awarded the "Best Command Police Public Relations Officer in West Africa".
About twenty five other officers of the Nigerian Police Force, including the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge Zone 2 Command Lagos, AIG Umar Manko, the officer in charge, Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ogun State, SP Mohammed Tijani, Commissioners of Police in Kano, Sokoto and Katsina, Police Public Relations Officers in Enugu and Kano, corporate firms and state governments in Nigeria and other African countries,were honored with various awards.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye, who was represented by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi appreciated the organizers and dedicated the awards to officers and men of the Ogun State Command, both slain and serving, for their efforts and to the good people of Ogun State for their collaboration in having effective policing of the state.
 At the opening lecture held on 25th November, at the same venue, papers were presented by scholars on the need to tackle insurgency in Africa, particularly a paper presented on behalf of the Inspector  General of Police Federal Republic of Nigeria by AIG Umar Manko on "The Role of Civil Police in Combating Terrorism in Africa", before an interactive session to deliberate on African security challenges and way forward was observed.
 The 3-day event was crowned by the grand finale and award ceremony nite held on 27th November at the Al Ghurair Event Centre, Dubai Central, Dubai, UAE which was tantalized with side attractions including belly dancing.
The Chief Executive Officer Security Watch Africa,Mr Patrick Agbamu, appreciated everyone for their support, particularly the Inspector General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba for his belief in Security Watch Africa and other eminent Africans who were present at the events for their support and attendance.
