Ibadan Youths Spit Venom on Political Leaders

- Olanrewaju Olasunkanmi
Our fellow youths of Ibadanland, why are we pretending as if all is well? If the perception is that our leaders are using politics for their own self-interest or showing favouritism that will benefit those in their inner circle, and their families alone, then why are we still responding?  Ever since, we (Ibadan Youths Initiative) decided to be mute on political issues, in order not to draw the wrong conclusion without seeing the right picture. But, let's ask ourselves and our dear so claimed patriotic and advocates youths of Ibadanland and Oyo state at large: Is there any other atrocity or criterion of divide and rule politics greater than what happened among the youths of Ibadanland on Thursday 20th of November, 2014, as a result of political influence? According to the research and findings on the ongoing crisis around Ibadan South/West LG and Akinyele LG area of the state; we discovered that the warriors and the notorious novice that were involved in the sorrowful incidents are between the ages of 16-34years of age. And the so-called devilish politicians' children are there overseas, sitting in a convenient and comfortable backyard pool gardens, sipping cold, expensive wine and listening to good music in their parents mansions; but here are we, as tools of sacrifice for them to enjoy their acquired wealth and political posts. We (Ibadan Youths Initiatives) stands tall, to say, we are fed up with this Pharaoh style of politics, we are fed up of division and rules ethics of politics among the youths, we are tired of the way our fellow youths are been influenced to confront each other by indirect and unjustifiable death sentences to the youths by the political leaders. Well, 80% of the blames go to our dear fellow youths, because many of them have already displayed thuggery and antisocial behaviours, with economically viable group, even before the Godlessness politicians approach them. But at the other hand they cannot be blamed, due to the reason, that their antisocial behaviours may have been exhibited within the context of economic survival, when they are far away from success. And this gives our so-called political leaders, great advantage and seize the unlawful opportunity to get through the minds of these frustrated youths. Though we know that it requires some bravery to motivate for change; more bravery still to ensure it actually happens, don't let us mind any real sacrifice it might demand from us, "let us stand tall and courageous, to make our voices heard and our legal/moral actions visible". We must put a stop to this "divide and rule mediocre". At the point when we are trying to come together to promote peace, unity and harmony amongst ourselves as youths for better tomorrow. If they have refused to make Nigeria a better place for us today, and also failed to empower us rather than drive us into the ocean of poverty. We on our part have decided and we have taken it as our responsibility to build a better tomorrow for our own next generation. Do you think we should allow them to separate us again? by using tricks in killing the influential and patriotic ones amongst us, so that their uncivilised children could come around to take charge.
