How Police Busted Kidnappers' Den in Ogun State

 Men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad of Ogun State Command on November 10 busted dens of notorious kidnappers who had been terrorizing people in some areas of the state, particularly in the Ijebu Ode axis. In a gun battle with the suspected kidnappers at the Odelewu area of Ijebu Ode, five of them were arrested with bullet wounds while 4 fell during fierce gun battle.


In a statement signed by the PRO of the Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, it was disclosed that the kidnappers had planned to kidnap the son of a business guru in Ogun State on November 12. Adejobi however made it known that they had been placed under surveillance by police operatives as a follow up to a tip off, which eventually led to the arrest of some of them.

It would be recalled that more than seven different victims, male and female have been kidnapped at various locations including Omu Ijebu, Epe Garage, Ikangba, Ibadan Garage, Imodi Mosander and Idowa Ijebu, including the mother one a prominent law maker in Ogun State recently and ransoms worth millions of naira were paid to them by the relations of the victims.

The PPRO disclosed to The Anchor that the suspects include Adeyinka Olusoji, Akinyele Jaiyesinmi, Gbadamosi Dada, Taiwo Ayoola and Suleiman Kalejaiye. Items recovered from them include two double barreled guns, some live cartridges and expended cartridges, fake Police ID cards, assorted charms, one Opel Astra with registration number BR 352 BDG and one Renault car with registration number AG 596 GBE.

While parading the suspects on Thursday at the SARS office, Magbon, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Police Commissioner, CP Ikemefuna Okoye commended the SARS operatives for the success recorded and directed thorough investigation into the cases connected to the suspects and other ones on record in the command. CP Okoye also appreciated the members of the public for their support particularly on information sharing and robust intelligence toward the arrest of the kidnappers and many other achievements of the command in the state.

The Police boss reiterated the commands readiness to always partner with all stakeholders in the state to provide adequate security for lives and property and maintain good relationship with the general public to achieve the effective policing of Ogun State. He assured that Ogun State will witness a peaceful yuletide season as he promised adequate deployment of police personnel and patrol at all nooks and crannies of the state.
