Confusion in Ekiti as 7 Lawmakers Sit to Impeach Speaker

The atmosphere around the Ekiti State House of Assembly was tense on Monday morning as heavy police presence was noticed in the area.
Many had believed that the business of the day at the assembly was the confirmation of the Caretaker Council Chairmen whose inauguration was slated for 10 am on Monday at the Adetiloye Hall, Ado Ekiti as they were yet to be confirmed by the House of Assembly.
It was however gathered that the reluctance of the Hon. Adewale Omirin led House to confirm the caretaker chairmen
prompted the move as the 7 PDP members out of the 19 honourables that make up the assembly moved to the chambers to sit and approve the appointment of the chairmen.
Police personnel, led by an armoured car moved to the assembly to provide security as the seven  members sat. The Anchor gathered that the impeachment of the Honourable Speaker was one of the topics considered..
Law enforcement agents reportedly prevented the 19 remaining members from gaining access into the chamber.
Meanwhile, the members that sat approved the appointment of the chairmen and three commissioners. Mr. Lere Olayinka, the Governor of Ekiti State's Special Assistant on Media matters debunked claims that the speaker was impeached. “Nine members of the House sat today (Monday). There are 26 members in the House and nine formed quorum and can still sit to take decisions. No impeachment of the Speaker,"Olayinka stated.
