Police Parade Serial Killer, Femi Kuti & Fake Customs Officers

The Ogun State Police Command, on Thursday announced the arrest of 33-year-old Femi Kuti, a notorious criminal who operated mainly in the Ijebu axis.
Femi Kuti,an indigene of Okuku, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State was arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on Monday, October 6 at a spot opposite the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat around 6.30 pm. 
While speaking on the arrest, the PRO of the Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed that Kuti, who was rusticated from The Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijegun,Ijebu Ode,Ogun State some years back, was arrested in the midst of his colleagues,cultists,numbering 100. He also stated that while trying to arrest him, the police met a heavy resistance which led to an exchange of fire.He pointed out that Kuti was injured by police bullets before he was eventually taken away by the SARS men.


Adejobi stated that "the suspect who has been terrorizing Ogun State for some years now has confessed to many killings in the state. He confirmed to have killed more than 10 people while he has participated,with his gang,in the killing of more than 50 people in Ijebu Area and Ogun State in general".

He also pointed out that "the serial killer had been arrested by the police on several occasions and was imprisoned but he's so recalcitrant and continued his dirty business of assassination and robbery after his jail term. He is assisting the police in its investigations and will soon be charged to court".

In another development,the SARS Ogun State also arrested three fake Nigerian Customs officers who formed illegal customs points and seized people's cars with full Customs attire on September 28 while transacting business in Akure.

Adejobi told the Anchor that "the fake Customs men used to mount their points at Ibafo end of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway in full customs uniform with accoutrements and have seized more than 30 vehicles from various individuals including security agents". 

The suspects' names were given as Brilliant Oruaro,29, from Bayelsa State,Ajayi Jemibewon, 23,from Ekiti State and Farotimi Sunday,21, from Ado Ekiti. 
The police spokesman also disclosed that with their tricks,the fake officers have robbed people of their cars and belongings while they go ahead to sell the stolen cars and other loots to innocent people under pretense.

The Ogun State Police command also confirmed that the ring leader, Brilliant, has a pending trial in Magistrate Court 3 Otta for a similar case of forgery of Customs documents and that he has a car stand in Akure, Ondo State where some of the vehicles were recovered with two locally made double barreled guns,customs uniforms,identity cards and life cartridges.The Police have recovered more than 11 cars from the syndicate,and efforts are on to recover the rest.

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye while parading the suspects before the press at SARS Office Magbon Abeokuta on Thursday confirmed to the press the temporary relocation of some outfits of the command to Ijebu axis of the state to tackle some of the crimes experienced in the area,particularly cultism. He further stated that the people of the state have commended the police for the arrest of Femi Kuti who has been described as a deadly man by members of the public.

The Commissioner of Police however promised the general public of the command's readiness to continue its fight against cultism and other crimes in the state and reduce them to their barest minimum;and continue to provide adequate security of lives and property for all and sundry in Ogun State. He also appreciated the good people of the state for their support in sharing of information and provision of logistics to assist the police.
