Ngilari Sworn in As Adamawa Governor!

Mr. Bala James Ngilari was on Wednesday sworn in as the 12th Governor of Adamawa State.
Ngilari was sworn in following the order of a Federal High Court in Abuja, in which Justice Adeniyi Ademola ruled that the resignation of Mr. Ngilari on July 14, 2014 was null and void since the resignation letter was not received by Admiral Murtala Nyako, who was the then Governor. The letter was of no effect since it did not comply with Section 306 of the Constitution.

The court also ordered that Umar Fintiri, the Acting-Governor should vacate the seat.
The Independent National Electoral Commission also announced the suspension of the governorship bye-election slated for Saturday.
Mr. Bello Adoke, the Attorney General of the Federation also called on the Chief Justice of Adamawa State to immediately swear in Mr. Ngilari.
The former Deputy Governor had gone to court to challenge his purported resignation which he stated was not known to law since it was not received by the Governor. He prayed the court to declare him the Governor of Adamawa State following the impeachment of Admiral Nyako.
