Malala Becomes Youngest Nobel Laureate

The 2014 Nobel Peace Prize was on Friday awarded to the duo of Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi of India in recognition of their work for children's rights.
17-year-old Malala has become the youngest Nobel Prize winner ever. She got into international reckoning when she started agitating for children’s right to education as a girl of 11. Two years ago, an attempt was made on her life by the Taliban when she was shot in the head by a gunman.

She was flown to England where she went through surgeries and recovered by a stroke of luck.
Sathyarthi on the other hand has led various peaceful protests through which he has continuously decried the exploitation of children. He left his engineering career to focus on child right movements.
In awarding the two, the Nobel committee noted that the two earned the award "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education."
The awards will be handed over on December 10.
