CP Rolls Out Emergency Numbers as Cult Clash Kills 2 in Ijebu

Following the bloody clash that claimed two lives in Ijebu Ode in the early hours of Sunday, the Ogun State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to continue to tackle cultists and their illegal activities in all nooks and crannies of Ogun State.

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye made this known on Sunday while addressing senior officers of the command in Abeokuta on general security of the state with specific focus on Ijebu Ode axis which had recorded some killings amongst cult members recently.
The CP also laid out plans concerning more effective policing in order to have a hitch free Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu Ode on Monday 6th October.

While addressing the officers, the Commissioner of Police confirmed the arrest of some cult members belonging to the Supreme Eiye (National Association of Airlords) and Black Axe Confraternities who attacked one another in the Ijebu Ode axis on Sunday morning.
Two members of the cult groups were confirmed dead after the clash between Eiye and Black Axe groups at Aleke Okesopin, Ijebu Igbo Ogun State around 4. 30 am on Sunday.

The spokesman of the Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, DSP told The Anchor that dangerous weapons including cutlasses, pairs of scissors, two guns, some expended and live cartridges, the groups' paraphernalia and some charms were recovered by the police.

The corpses of Abiodun Adeniye, 28 and Taiwo Yusuf, 24, who were shot dead during Ijebu Igbo fracas have been kept at a mortuary in Ijebu for postmortem examination.

CP Ikemefuna Okoye has however directed all relevant anti crime teams in the command to relocate temporarily to Ijebu axis for adequate protection of lives and property and to curtail any cult clashes and other social vices.

The Commissioner of Police also appealed to the people of Ijebu Ode and Ogun State in general to collaborate with the police and other security agencies to succeed in the war against cultism in the state and accord security to all and sundry in the state.
