Ogun Police Recovers 48 Guns, 1,600 Rounds of Ammunition

The Ogun State Police Command, on Tuesday paraded more than 42 suspects arrested for different crimes across the state.
While parading the suspects at the Command's headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, CP Ikemefuna Okoye noted that the command has taken it upon itself to always feed the public back on its efforts to rid Ogun State of criminals.
Among the suspects was the trio of Jimoh Ogundele, Segun Adefuye and Adisa Oyekunle, arrested for attempted murder.
The three men, all residents of Ilaro reportedly conspired to murder one Ahmed Giwa. CP Okoye pointed out that after beating their victim to a point of coma, they went on to hit him on the head with a grinding stone. While the victim still lies in a critical condition in the hospital, the police revovered the grinding stone as exhibt in the case.
25-year-old Kayode Akanni who was arrested for defiling a three-year-old girl was also paraded. Akanni was arrested on September 11. He allegedly tricked the girl into his room by asking her to bring a bunch of keys and raped her kn the room.
The list also included Sadiq Asimiyu and Tunde Egunjobi, both in their early 20s. They were arrested for allegedly robbing a pastor in Abeokuta at gun point and dispossessing him and his family members of money and other valuables.
During the briefing, CP Okoye disclosed that his men uncovered a cache of arms and recovered 48 guns including 10 AK 47 rifles and 1,600 rounds of ammunition including 700 rounds of AK 47 ammunition.
31 suspected cultists were also paraded. They were arrested during an initiation ceremony into the Eiye Confraternity at Bolif Hotel after they were rounded up by men of the Obantoko Division of the command.
While calling on members of the public to relate and partner with the police towards achieving a better security network, CP Okoye made it known that his command will continue to make policing proactive, accessible and accountable in order to make the vision of the Acting Inspector-General a reality
