DEAR DEIDRE: I WALKED in on my wife having sex with her brother.
She was adopted so they’re not related by blood but it shocked me rigid.
My life has been torn apart by this but her family seem to think it’s fine.
I’m 36 and my wife is 34. We’ve been married for six years.
My wife’s parents adopted her when they found they couldn’t have a second natural child after her brother, who’s now 44.
She said they have slept together since she was a teenager.
I can’t bring myself to talk to my wife about it. I moved out but my family won’t talk to me about it out of shame.
I don’t want my friends to know as they’d bully me.

Your wife’s family sound to have no appropriate boundaries and her brother’s behaviour seems abusive.
It is natural to be very distressed.
Talk it over with NAPAC, the National Association for People Abused in Childhood (napac.org.uk).
Then you might have fresh insight to open up a discussion with your wife.
