VC Harps on Character and Determination as Tech-U Matriculates Freshmen

Students of the First Technical University, Ibadan have been urged to shun unorthodox behaviour and other things capable of truncating their academic journey.

The advice was given by Professor Adesola Àjàyí, the Vice-Chancellor of the Institution during his address at the matriculation of freshmen for the 2023/2024 Academic Session last Thursday.

While describing matriculation as an age long academic tradition to mark admission as a bonafide student of the institution, Professor Àjàyí affirmed that being the pioneer of tertiary technical education, the University has distinguished itself. "Success stories of our graduates stand as a testament to the quality of education we offer", the Vice -Chancellor averred.

Advising the students to maximize the opportunities they have, Professor Àjàyí urged the matriculants to be focused and determined to learn. Continuing, he said "be committed and considerate in all things, ask appropriate questions. With God on your side, you will rise beyond the sky".

While urging the freshmen to make good use of the freedom newly conferred on them by their studentship, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support to the growth and development of the First Technical University. He also appreciated the Local Governments and Josephus Foundation for the enabling opportunities provided to the students.

In all, 189 students from three Faculties took part in the Matriculation Ceremony.
