Glitz, Glamour Trail Ibadan Golf Club's Maiden SS 28 Tourney


Ibadan businessman, Taoviq Olátúnjí fondly called "VSOP" was one of the winners at the maiden edition of the Senior Special 28 Tournament hosted by the Ibadan Golf Club recently. Apart from Olátúnjí who won the Longest Drive (Hole 18), winners in other categories included Busayo Aluko who emerged the Guest Winner, Dayo Adejuwon who was the Guest Runner Up as well as Rotimi Anifowose who won in the SS 28 category. Others were Joseph Adeoye and Olawale Ojo, the runner up and first runner up respectively while Temi Adewuyi went home with the Best Endeavour award. 


Speaking at the brief but colourful ceremony that heralded the presentation of prizes, Ṣeyi Alábá, the Second Vice Captain and Chairman of the Organising Committee averred that the tournament was mainly to promote comradeship on the course and further strengthen established relationships while encouraging more members to play. 

According to him, the tournament was "to encourage golfers in the category to step up". He also disclosed that though 30 people registered, 28 handicappers took part in the competition. 

While thanking members of the Golf Club for buying the idea, Alaba said "we are hoping it is going to be an annual thing. Most of you will be playing next year but you will play as guests". The Vice Captain also appreciated senior golfers as he promised more commitment to the game.
