DEAR DEIDRE: MY
fiancée went to Australia to stay with an old school friend – and had sex with
her pal’s younger brother there.
She stayed in touch with me while she was away but I started
to realise this brother kept cropping up in her chat.
I guessed he was hoping to get physical. My girlfriend is a
very attractive girl. We are both 25 and the brother is 22.
She was distant when she first got back, and then she
accidentally sent me a text intended for him, saying how they loved each other
and talking about the sex they’d had. I told her how I felt about it. She cut
all contact with him and said she was distant because she felt so guilty.
She assures me it will never happen again but I am finding
it so hard to cope with knowing she has cheated.
DEIDRE SAYS: It’s
natural for it to take time before you can believe that it really is you she
loves.
Tell her you need to hear that a lot but resist the
temptation to ask for more details about what happened. That would only make it
worse.
