COVID-19: SWEGOP Calls For Prompt, Transparent Disbursement of Palliatives

The South West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has called on governments at all levels to ensure prompt and even disbursement of palliatives across the nation  and save Nigerians from hunger and starvation.
The group also noted that the lock down ordered may not be effective any longer as long as people are hungry without any serious provision for support from the government.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Olayinka Agboola, and Public Relations Officer, Remi Oladoye, the group said "from our findings, a lot of families now live on less than N100 per day as the prices of foodstuffs and other items have been  increasing on a daily basis

"If nothing urgent is done to arrest the situation, there are probabilities that the country will lose more people to hunger and other critical ailments such as diabetes, cancer,  ulcer and others”.

While commending the Federal and State Governments on the effort so far, the group urged them to be  transparent in  expending the resource allocated for eradication of  COVID19.

SWEGOP also urged political office holders and government officials to be transparent in the disbursement of cash palliatives and other relief materials for Nigerians.

“This is definitely not the time to illegally become wealthy through diversion  and  enriching  pockets with the funds meant to save lives during this COVID-19 pandemic period.
