Cheating on my husband with a co-worker left me with an STI

DEAR DEIDRE: I HAD crazy sex in the stockroom with a rep who came to sell my boss new biscuits.
It was great while it lasted but I am married and I could kick myself for being so stupid — especially as I got an STI, too.
I have been with my husband for ten years. He is a very good man, extremely loving and loyal. I am 27 and he is 28. I was a virgin when we met and he had only had one sexual partner before.

We have a son of nine and a daughter of six. My husband works hard and we have a good life — a nice home, two cars and holidays abroad every summer.
I was bored when my daughter started school so I found myself a part-time job at a corner shop. I enjoyed meeting different people every day and it felt good to have a bit of money which I had earned myself.
We have several reps coming into the shop regularly. Many of them are ordinary blokes and just friendly in a business-like way. Then a temporary rep came.
He was so fit and very flirty, though he was probably ten years older. He came in with a new line of biscuits my boss had decided to try. The rep asked me to go into the stockroom and show him where to stack them.
He put them on the shelf then turned to face me. Before I knew it, we were kissing. He then asked when the boss would be off — and said he would pop round then.
He turned up next day and we closed the shop for the lunch hour. We could not keep our hands off each other and ended up pleasuring each other orally. I realised quickly that I could have lost everything.
I will never be so stupid again but I have since discovered I caught a sexual infection. We never had full sex so how did that happen?

DEIDRE SAYS: You can catch a sexual infection in many different ways, including oral sex. If you have not yet seen a doctor, go to your nearest Sexual Health Clinic and make sure you complete the treatment.
If you need help to find the clinic, call the Sexual Health Line. Do not have unprotected sex with anyone else – including your husband – until you have had the all-clear.
You say you will never be so stupid again but you need to look at what lies behind this episode.
Your marriage is good as far as finances and practical matters go, but how satisfying is it for you emotionally and sexually?
If you were both rather inexperienced when you got married, there may be room to improve your sex life.
Tell your husband you love him and want to give your sex life a boost. My e-leaflet 50 Ways To Add Fun To Sex has lots of ideas you can try together.
