"Pray For Governor Makinde", Sarumi-Aliyu Urges Oyo State Indigenes

...picks April 1 as prayer and fasting day

Mrs. Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu, the convener of BASA Foundation has called on well-meaning indigenes of Oyo State, home and abroad to observe Wednesday, 1st April, 2020 as a special day of prayer for Governor Seyi Makinde.

Sarumi-Aliyu made the call while speaking to journalists on Monday evening, shortly after the Governor announced that the result of his COVID-19 confirmation test came back positive.
"By reputation, Governor Seyi Makinde is a benefactor of the whole of Oyo State, the elite and the masses alike. Our hearts go to him as he leads the battle against Corona virus and we are supremely confident that by God's grace, our Governor will pull through", she said.
Speaking further, Sarumi-Aliyu said "let us observe 1st April, 2020 as a day of fasting and prayer, let us call on God to heal our Governor and grant him an excellent bill of health".
Not oblivious of the government's ban on religious gatherings of more than 10 people, Sarumi-Aliyu, fondly called BASA by her supporters disclosed that "we don't have to gather anywhere. As believers, we will lift our voices and call on God from the confines of our homes. And in faith, I know that He will answer our prayers. I therefore call on all religious leaders to please join us in the prayer for our highly esteemed Governor."
When asked why she was calling for prayers for the Governor, her response was
"many of us look up to him as a role model and with what His Excellency the Governor has been able to do in the last 10 months, Oyo is in for a new dimension of development. He has taken the burden of paying school fees off so many parents, and with the roads he approved across the state last week, no one will argue the fact that he means so well for the state and for us all.
You will agree with me that taking out one day to pray for him and his entire family is not too much".
The BASA Foundation convener also called on all those who would participate in the prayers to use the Governor's picture on their social media profiles as a way of reminding themselves about the prayer.
"I am positive our prayers will make a defining difference and His Excellency will be healed so that he can continue the good work he started", she said.
