EKSG appoints Onigogo as Chairman, Ekiti OPD Governing Council


Ekiti State Government has appointed the Onigogo of Igogo-Ekiti, Oba Sunday Adewunmi as the Chairman of Governing Council of the Office of the Public Defender (OPD).
Inaugurating the Governing Council in Ado-Ekiti, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Olawale Fapohunda explained that the government constituted the council as part of efforts to boost the effect and services of the OPD.
Mr. Fapohunda reiterated the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to the welfare of the people, particularly the rights of the less privileged and indigent.

He said members of the committee were carefully selected for optimum result adding that the focus was to make the services of OPD accessible to people at the grassroots.
In his remarks, Oba Adeyemo expressed gratitude to the State Government for considering him worthy of the appointment.
The Chairman of the new Governing Council pledged on behalf of other members of the Council to do their best in the new assignment, adding that they would justify the confidence reposed in them with diligence.
Other members of the Office of the Public Defender's Governing Council are the Executive Secretary, Barry. Bolanle Wale-Awe, Chief Akinlade Ojo (Erugale), Chief. (Mrs)Waye Oso (Iyaloja General), Barr. Bola Aruleba representing the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and Mrs. Kikelomo Owolabi representing International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ekiti State Chapter while Barr. Folorunso Ajayi will serve as the Secretary.
The Executive Secretary, Barr. Bolanle Wale-Awe expressed appreciation to the Onigogo, Oba Sunday Adewunmi and other members of the Governing Council for creating time out of their busy schedules to respond to what she described as a call to duty.
Wale-Awe solicited the continued support of stakeholders for government's lofty programmes and advised residents in the state to take advantage of the opportunity provided by her office to seek redress or remedy for any perceived unfair treatment.
