Well-known Architect and one of the prominent sons of the
prestigious Aliiwo family of Ibadan, Hassan Giwa, has admitted that the Recognition
and Merit Award bestowed on him by the Aliiwo Progressive Movement (APM) is
actually a call to do more for the society and for humanity at large.
Arc. Giwa, who doubles as the Otunba of Lagun Community, on
receiving the first ever Fellow Blue Blood of Aliiwo Royal Family (FBBARF)
Award, thanked the organizers for the honour and promised to continue to
appreciate the Almighty God by giving back to the people and the society.
He went on to applaud the facilitators of the Aliiwo Day,
the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Balogun, Senator Kola
Balogun, former Oyo State Head of Service, Alhaji Tajudeen Aremu and a host of
others for their support over the years as well as for the success of annual
celebration of Aliiwo Day.
He promised to continue to support the Aliiwo Progressive
Movement in all its activities to promote the legacy of the Aliiwo dynasty. It is a known fact that the awardee’s Hassan
Olawale Giwa Foundation, a non-governmental organization focuses on assisting
the people through its various programmes such as free health, education and
empowerment schemes. He has however hinted that the foundation’s free medical
outreach programme will commence soon.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman, Alliwo Progressive
Movement, Sheik Sadiq Babatunde Bello revealed that the purpose of Aliiwo Day
is to promote the love and unity between sons and daughters of the Aliiwo
family in Ibadan land.
He said that FBBARF Award is an award for only outstanding
sons and daughters of Aliiwo in recognition and appreciation of their
meritorious contributions towards the uplifting of the family.
The APM Chairman added that as a son of Aliiwo family,
Architect Hassan Giwa has made the family proud in his chosen career and
distinguished himself both at home and abroad.
The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Balogun, the
Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Kola Balogun,
Member, House of Representative, Hon. Adedeji Olajide and prominent people
across the state were in attendance to honour the Aliiwo dynasty.
