The Ekiti State Ministry of Works and Transportation was
given prompt facelift, needed furniture and machinery to prepare it for its
pivotal role in the fulfillment of the third developmental agenda of the Fayemi
administration which has to do with provision of infrastructural amenities.
The Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transportation in
the State, Hon. Olugboyega Aribisogan expatiated this during a courtesy visit
to the Ministry headquarters located in Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Hon. Aribisogan who commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for the
good road network that is now visible across the state and his policy of continuity
in governance and steps taken to complete projects abandoned by his
predecessors said his committee was not meant to witch-hunt the Ministry but to
partner with it for meaningful development through appropriate legislation on
matters affecting the Ministry.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Hon.
Adesola Adebayo thanked the Governor for his laudable achievements since inception
of the administration, especially on Infrastructure and Industrial Development
which is one of the cardinal developmental agenda of his administration.
He said his Ministry has the mandate to create ideal
communities through good road network that would improve people’s lives and equally
attract investors to the state, provide quality public buildings with a view to
solving accommodation problems among its citizens and creating conducive office
environment for workforce and intending investors in Ekiti State among others.
He urged the Committee to move round the state to inspect
some the ongoing projects to confirm the giant strides of Governor Fayemi’s administration
within the few months in office.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Barr ’Dele Agbede commended
the governor for the renovation of structures in the Ministry and provision of
furniture and essential tools, adding that these have created conducive
environment for the staff in the Ministry to work and be more productive.
Barr Agbede who noted that Governor Fayemi was passionate
about workers’ welfare pledged that staff in the Ministry will continue to be
diligent at work and support his administration to enable it succeed and
deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
