In recognition of his contributions to the development of the
Architecture and Construction industry in Nigeria and his effort towards
promoting peace and good governance, the national secretariat of the National
Association of University Students (NAUS) in Nigeria has bestowed the
association's National Outstanding Leadership Award on Otunba (Arc) Hassan
Giwa.
Otunba Giwa, an indigene of Ibadan, hails from Lagelu Local
Government Area of Oyo State. He is the Managing Director and Chief Executive
Officer of Amron Global Service Limited and Founder of Otunba Hassan Olawale
Giwa Foundation.
While presenting the award to Otunba Giwa in his office in
Abuja, the representatives of NAUS, Comrade Taiwo Oluwasegun, the National
Publicity Secretary ,from Bayero University, Kano, Comrade Macaulay Vera,
D.O.G/ Equality from University of Abuja, Comrade Babatunde Emmanuel, Director
of Programmes & Strategy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Comrade
Idemudia Lydia from University of Nigeria, Nsuka, described the awardee as a
lover of peace, who has contributed tremendously to the Architecture and
Construction industry in the country.
They said that the association is an umbrella body of
Nigerian students both in the country and overseas, aiming to promote peace,
unity and good governance.
The representatives also pointed out that the national
secretariat of the association at its last congress decided to honour Otunba
Giwa for his contributions and efforts towards building the nation and humanity
in general.
They noted that the association identified Otunba Giwa's
good character and quality leadership lifestyle which younger ones can emulate
and learn from as a yardstick for his nomination for the association highly
esteemed award.
In his response, Otunba Giwa, who dedicated the award to the
Almighty Allah, attributed the honour to the efforts of the entire staff of his
establishment.
While describing the honour as another challenge to service
to humanity, he maintained that the selfless service of the staff of the
company earned the recognition from the association.
Otunba Giwa promised not to relent in his effort to
contribute more to the development of his environment both remote and
immediate.
He highlighted that through his foundation, Otunba Hassan
Olawale Giwa (OHOG) Foundation, had assisted many students, empowered many
youths as well as many women and widows through various developmental
programmes in his capacity.
Giwa expressed the readiness of his company and foundation
to support the progress of the association.
