How Police Arrested Abductors of Ogun Chief Imam's Son

The Ogun State Police Command, on Thursday announced the arrest of four members of a kidnap gang who abducted three persons including a son of the Chief Imam of Ode-Omi Community on Sunday 11th August 2019. 
 The three victims namely Adamson Bamidele, Adam Jelil and Sanni Azeez were rescued five days after their abduction while police kept trailing their abductors who  police authorities said were hibernating in the creeks.
 "At a stage, the policemen advanced to their hideout in the creek and engaged them in a gun battle; four policemen were injured in the process forcing the policemen to withdraw",  the Command's spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police stated. He said though the police withdrew, men of the Force laid ambush around the area.
 Oyeyemi also disclosed that "four members of the gang came out of the creek probably to relocate to another place and police swooped on them and got them arrested. Recovered from them are  two cut to size guns, four live cartridges, one gas cylinder, one boat engine and assorted charms".
It was gathered that while the arrested suspects  were being taken to Abeokuta by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, their other colleagues who had laid an ambush for them between Abigi and J4, attacked the team with the view of freeing their arrested members.
At the end of the gun duel that ensued, two out of the arrested suspects and one of the attackers were fatally injured. Oyeyemi also  confirmed that "a pump gun belonging to the attackers and three expended cartridges were recovered at the scene of the ambush while some of the attackers escaped with bullet injuries" 
The Command has appealed to members of the public, especially hospitals to report anybody seen with gunshot injuries to the police in their area.
