The supply of Indian Hemp in circulation in the Ogun-Lagos
axis has been reduced by about 17 bags with the arrest of one Daniel Elumiya by
men of the Ogun State Police Command on 28th July. The arrest of Elimuya of No 9, General
Hospital Street, Iya Naira area, Agbara followed a tip-off that a car was on
its way to Lagos from Delta State. “The information revealed further that the
said car was loaded with illicit drugs”, the Command’s spokesman, DSP Abimbola
Oyeyemi stated.
Oyeyemi stated that “on the strength of the information, the
DPO, Ibafo Division, SP Abiodun Ayinde quickly led his Anti-robbery team to
Lagos-Ibadan expressway where they laid ambush for the said car.
At about 6:30pm, the team sighted the Ford car with registration
number GGE 782 EX and stopped it. On searching the vehicle, 17 sacks of Indian
hemp was discovered there in. The driver, one Daniel Elimuya was promptly
arrested”.
The police spokesman disclosed that on interrogation, he
confessed being a long time Indian hemp distributor and that the one he
arrested with was meant to be delivered to one “Kofo” in Lagos Island.
Oyeyemi also confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, CP
Bashir Makama has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect and exhibits to
State Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department for further
investigation.
