A prominent Ibadan indigene and businessman, Architect
Hassan Giwa, has called on Ibadan Obas to sheathe their swords and allow peace
to reign in the city.
Giwa gave the advice while speaking to journalists on the
way forward and main areas Engr. Seyi Makinde's incoming administration is
expected to pay attention.
The Ibadan born businessman also appealed to the Olubadan of
Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji to forgive and forget whatever might have
happened between the two factions for the sake of peace, for the benefit of the
incoming government, Ibadanland and Oyo State generally.
Architect Giwa expressed hope that the success of the newly
elected governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde will be a collective responsibility of all
and sundry as he opined that it would be a great disadvantage for his
government not to have everybody on the same page, particularly Ibadan people.
The Abuja based estate developer added that all hands must
be on deck to ensure that parties involved sheathe their sword in the interest
of Ibadan, the incoming administration, and Oyo State.
While also advising the state's governor- elect, Architect Giwa
urged Engr. Makinde to remain focused and channel the state's resources to
areas where the state has comparative advantage, saying this will make majority
of Oyo State indigenes and residents direct beneficiaries of government
policies.
He expressed confidence in Engr. Makinde’s ability to make
positive impact in the lives of the people of the state through people-oriented
and developmental policies.
Giwa also used the opportunity to call on the
people of the state to collectively support Engr. Seyi Makinde irrespective of
political party affiliations, saying “the era of politics has gone, and what
remains now is governance and how to take state to another enviable position
through purposeful governance”
