IGP Reviews Shift Structure To Increase Police Efficiency

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Mohammed Adamu, has put plans in place to re-strategise the existing policing system of curtailing violent crimes and banditary particularly in the North Western part of Nigeria.

The IGP, who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Operations, DIG Abdulmajid Ali, at a lecture in Kaduna State Command on Wednesday, dropped the hint to the cross section of officers and men serving in the state including the Commissioner of Police Kaduna State, CP AA Abdulraman and his management team.

The DIG, who was accompanied by some officers attached to the Federal Operations Unit of the Force Headquarters Abuja,  emphasised on the need to change police styles and strategies of tackling violent crimes in Nigeria with a view to improving on service delivery and incorporating many stakeholders like the traditional rulers, religious leaders, trade unions, artisans, local hunters etc, in the Inspector's-General of Police various operational tactics across the major crises-affected states in Nigeria,  especially the recently launched Operation Puff Adder.

In his words of encouragement to the officers and men of the command, and the entire workforce of the Nigeria Police, the DIG assured them of the determination of the Inspector-General of Police to review and revert the existing 12-hour duty shift to the former productive 8 hour duty shift in order to promote efficiency and sound mental health in police personnel across the country. 

The IGP , through the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Operations, DIG Abdulmajid Ali, hinted that all hands are on deck to reduce stress and psychological trauma of Police personnel, which will in turn boost effectiveness, professionalism and good service delivery. 

In his reaction, the Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command, CP A.A Abdulraham appreciated the IGP for his steadfastness in repositioning the Nigeria Police Force and improving the condition of service of Police personnel in Nigeria. He also assured the IGP of improved security and protection of lives and property of the good people of Kaduna State and all Nigerians who have businesses within his area of responsibility in Kaduna.
