Meet The Backbone of Akinlade’s Multi-billion Guber Campaign, Why He Prefers To Operate Underground

The identity of one of the major financial backers of the gubernatorial ambition of Adekunle Akinlade has been unveiled. The wealthy individual is no other person than Wasiu Sowami, an oil baron behind Prudent Energy and services Limited.

He was cleared by authorities not quite long ago in an alleged N1.3billion oil Subsidy Scam.
Sowami was one of the Managing Directors arrested by the Special Fraud Unit during the raging outcry over massive corruption in the fuel subsidy scheme.
The Prudent Energy boss was alleged to have been paid over N1.3billion ‘’based on a single importation of over 18 million litres of PMS’’.
Sowami, however, walked free from the charges and had since then kept a low profile.
The oilman returned to social consciousness with a daring business move recently by purchasing 75 percent equity in Femi Otedola’s Forte Oil
The transaction runs into millions of dollars and is scheduled to be perfected by the end of 2019.
A painstaking report by some journalists has revealed the Prudent Energy boss funded Akinlade’s gubernatorial election.
Sowami is said to be involved in the Akinlade gubernatorial project as a result of the connection with Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Amosun and Sowami are said to enjoy a robust relationship.
Governor Amosun dared all odds – including expulsion from the ruling All Progressives Congress – to make his godson, Akinlade a major contender in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Ogun state.
Akinlade, who contested on the platform of the Allied People’s Movement lost the election to APC’s Dapo Abiodun, a setback that is said to have angered his financial backbone in the person of Sowami.
Sowami who prefers to operate in the shadow judged by the bad reports that trailed his arrest for fuel subsidy is said to have distanced himself from relationship with Akinlade that whenever the issue comes up he finds a way to escape the discussion.
