The Police Command in Ogun State have arrested a 25-year-old man, Seyi Ajiboye for forcefully having carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl, whose identity is being protected by the police. The spokesman of the Command, DSP Abimnola Oyeyemi disclosed in a statement that the victim is a Down Syndrome patient.
"The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Agbado Divisional headquarters by the victim accompanied by her parents on 8th March 2019.
The victim complained that while she was coming from a church service at Oluwalogbon Street, Abule Ijoko, the suspect who resides in the area lured her into his room, forcefully removed her under wear and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent", Oyeyemi stated.
The victim told the police that Ajiboye increased the volume of his music player to the maximum therefore making it impossible for people around to hear her screaming.
Oyeyemi also stated that "on the strength of the report, the DPO Agbado Division, CSP Olatunji Omonijo led his detectives to the area where the suspect was promptly arrested. He has since made a confessional statement to the effect that he actually committed the crime.
The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and report".
He went on to confirm that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution.
