The People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Alhaji
Atiku Abubakar has again promised that if elected, his government will build
inter-state roads and complete all hitherto neglected federal projects in Ekiti
State.
The former Vice President made the promise in Ado Ekiti on
Monday as he addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters that attended the PDP
presidential rally at the Ekitiparapo Pavilion.
Atiku, who had earlier commiserated with the people of Iworoko
and Ekiti State in general over an unfortunate accident that claimed several
lives over the weekend also promised to restore quality education.
“I commit to you we will build the interstate roads and
complete all federal projects not completed. We’ll restore quality education
and we'll create more jobs. I also recommit 40% of my cabinet to youth and 30%
to women”, Atiku said.
He disclosed that traditional rulers made a case for the
roads when he went to pay homage to the Ewi of Ado Ekiti where he was received
by traditional rulers.
PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus expressed confidence as
he called on Ekiti people to vote for the PDP. “We are going to win this
election. Look at Atiku, he is tested and trusted in public and private
sectors. He is a man that can turn economy around. He has the energy for the
job.”
Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki assured Ekiti people
that Atiku would not promise and fail. “Atiku knows how to create jobs, secure
the country and fight corruption”, he said.
The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele
Fayose also promised that Ekiti people will ‘deliver’ the necessary votes to
ensure Atiku’s victory.
